Recommended Hardware for Stormux
By Billy
This page brings together hardware I use with Stormux or have had good results with. Product availability can change, but I will try to keep these links current.

Storage for Stormux
Both the regular and gaming Stormux images can run from a microSD card or a USB flash drive. A 64GB device is a good starting point, while 128GB provides more room for games, software, and personal files.
MicroSD Cards
I have had good results with SanDisk Ultra microSD cards, including the 128GB card in one of my Raspberry Pi systems.
USB Flash Drives
These are two SanDisk USB-A models I have used successfully. The Ultra Flair is a compact choice, and I have booted the Stormux gaming image from one. The Extreme Go is a faster option that has also been responsive and reliable in my use.
- SanDisk Ultra Flair USB 3.0 flash drive, 64GB
- SanDisk Ultra Flair USB 3.0 flash drive, 128GB
- SanDisk Extreme Go USB 3.2 flash drive, 64GB
- SanDisk Extreme Go USB 3.2 flash drive, 128GB
Card Reader
For repeated backups and heavy use, a high-quality card reader will serve you better over time. The SmartQ reader works with both microSD and full-size SD cards.
See Backup and Restore for instructions on making a bootable backup of your Stormux system.
Keyboard and Headset
These are the keyboard and wireless headset I currently use.
- Logitech MX Mechanical Keyboard - Connect through the included USB receiver or Bluetooth.
- HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless Headset - Long battery life and a dedicated USB wireless adapter.
The headset and keyboard are also described on the Stormux Gaming Image page.
